Is 9/6 greater than 10/10?
To compare two fractions, such as 9/6 and 10/10, there are two main common methods: the first one involves finding a common denominator, and the other one is to convert the fractions directly into decimal values.
1) Using the same denominator
- Multiply the numerator of the first fraction with the denominator of the second fraction: 9 × 10 = 90
- Multiply the numerator of the second fraction with the denominator of the first fraction 10 × 6 = 60
- Multiply the denominators of both fractions together: 6 × 10 = 60
- Rewrite both fractions with the new common denominator:
- 9/6 = 90/60
- 10/10 = 60/60
With a common denominator, the comparison becomes much simpler.
Since 90 is larger than 60, we can conclude that 9/6 is greater than 10/10.
2) Converting to decimal
We can also simply convert the fractions into decimal values:
- 9 divided by 6 is equal to 1.5
- 10 divided by 10 is equal to 1
Since 1.5 is larger than 1, it means that 9/6 is greater than 10/10.
